I am Anand Narayanan, and I served as the first senator for University Apartments in the history of the Texas A&M student senate. I am the caucus leader and the sole representative over 1,100 residents from 100+ countries in the 61st session of the student senate in 2008-09. I had the opportunity to represent the senate in the new international welcome party. The international welcome party is a program organized by the International Student Services (ISS) to welcome new international students. This semester, the event was held in January at the Recreation Center. This event is one of the first opportunities new international students get to understand Texas A&M, College Station, and the United States of America. Various on-campus organizations attended and performed at this event. Being an international student myself and the only international graduate student representative in the 61st senate session, I was eager to participate. I represented the senate along with other senators and members of the Student Government Association. It was a wonderful experience welcoming new students from different parts of the world, to answer their queries and make them feel at home. In the picture I am with the Student Body President, fellow senators and other members from executive branch of student government.
